“My house is small but its windows are opening into an infinite world” (Confucius)

An open identity is emerging, which we could call ‘mestizo’, an identity of migration that requires a willingness to integrate, to compare, to welcome and that is disposed to dialogue and encounter.

The effect of these practices is that nomadic nature that is more plural and more open to the demands of the present. This is the spirit behind Susanna Cati’s new collection of textile surfaces: a collection of carpets where past, present and future, local and global, art and design meet and intertwine in a new narrative that, through the threads, combines content and function.

A collection that emigrates to ‘foreign lands’ to find a new identity.

The collection consists of carpets and mats designed by SUSANNA CATI and made partly in unique pieces and partly replicable in limited edition. The exclusive pieces are the result of a collaboration and joint research between the designer and personalities from the world of weaving.

The preview of NOMADIC NATURE was presented in June 2018 on the occasion of the inauguration of the Contemporary section of the Atelier 36Mazal Suisse | Luxury and rare carpets.
