Ludmilla Swarczewskaja’s solo exhibition “Al netto dell’orizzonte”.

An Estonian artist who combines the traditional craft culture of the Baltic tapestry school with an innovative artistic style and an absolutely personal touch, arrives in Perugia, at SCD Studio.

Unlike many fiber artists who create the cardboard of the drawing and entrust professional weavers with the realization of the works, Swarczewskaja performs with the same care the entire creative process of her works, from the sketch of the first draft to the hand weaving of the entire composition.
“This attention to every detail allows her to improvise and constantly renew herself while remaining strongly characterized and recognizable.

Her tapestries are the result of a balanced synergy of colours, weaving techniques and polyphony of dynamic shapes.
For Swarczewskaya, any accidental discovery can become a model if she is willing to invest time and effort; this principle has allowed her to develop and experiment with new techniques, obtaining complex reliefs and aerial forms that transcend the perimeter of the area.

In her works, infinite horizons can be traced or, it would be better to say, that her works are devoid of the limit of the horizon: the many lines that cross them create multiple planes where the different sources of inspiration lead the observer to continuously overcome the boundaries of the gaze. The artist’s vision always leads beyond and does not accept pre-established limits of space, time, forms, contents, materials. (Barbara Pavan)
