Third appointment at SCD Studio, the Perugia gallery specializing in fiber art and textile art, where projects by international contemporary artists, meetings, workshops and workshops alternate.
Saturday, March 30 inaugurates “Appesi a un filo” the site specific modular installation by Elham M. Aghili: The Italian-Iranian fiber artist grown between the threads and colors of Persian carpets creates complex and articulated textile gardens, metaphors of the many instances of contemporaneity. A flora rendered with meticulous precision, capable of blossoming from any ravine, of growing luxuriant from imaginary roots infiltrated in walls without cracks, in floors without holes.

A nature composed of modules that are always the same (as are, in fact, the plants of a single species) but that is broken up and reassembled differently each time giving rise to unexpected sceneries. In this way Aghili represents the force of life that overcomes every limit, overcomes every boundary, redeems abandonment; in this way she recounts the contemporary society in which cultures intertwine and contaminate each other, generating new human compositions – colourful, lively, innovative. Nevertheless, this is also how he recounts the fragilities of our liquid time dominated by change, by a pressing future that quickly destroys the present and all too often forgets the past, the creator of a humanity in motion, with short roots and the few certainties that, like the sunflowers, move in search of new equilibriums, chasing the sun, a promise of life and prosperity.

We are all hanging by a thread, in fact, although in the frenzy of our lives we often lose awareness. And yet it is precisely that thread that, once it has overcome its slender nature, becomes continuity, bond, form: here the thread becomes the synthesis of the artist’s personal experience, divided – and multiplied – by the double culture of which it is the daughter.

Through the thread – uncertain and temporary – that becomes material, solid and rooted, the artist traces and defines the contours of his own identity.
